Description
These Toledo city walls date to the 10th century, but this ornate gate was built as an arch of triumph in the 16th century. The massive coat of arms signified that people were entering the capital of an empire that in the 1500s included most of western Europe and much of America. All was ruled by Emperor Charles V.
