Each image emerges from the deliberate choices the photographer makes - first behind the lens and then at the computer. That combination of craft and artistic vision produces photography as art. However, someone else adapted Adams' words thus: "You don't take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it." Those words are also true, even if the two statements are somewhat paradoxical.
